The 5K Road Race and Family Fun Run:

The 5k Road Race and Family Fun Run is a great way to get involved in this opportunity to  make a real impact on our community no matter what your running or walking abilities are.   The 5k road course will follow Harmony Hollow Road from the 4-H Center.  The Start and Finish will be the same as the Trail Races but will follow the road through the valley along the wide creek bed. The Skyline Challenge Trail Series Course layout: 

You will enjoy a beautiful and inspiring 9.3 mile loop course starting and ending at the 4-H retreat center.  Run on gorgeous well groomed trails that are well marked in the Shenandoah National Park. Trails include Hickerson Hollow, Dickey Ridge and the Appalachian Trail! 15k runners will complete one loop of the course. 30k trail runners will complete two laps, and for those who just can’t get enough, the 60k runners will complete four laps.

The trail is fast, fun, and very challenging.  Over all, this course is one of the best trails that I personally have run on in the Shenandoah Valley. Getting to the first aid station will require you to ascend over 1,100 feet up to the top of Carson Mountain. There are times when you may want to walk.
